Instant barometer

The way my mind works made it urgent to take a decision. I needed to stop, as best I could, classic exhibitions, as I was tired of running from exhibit to exhibit. I needed to find other ways to work, since I whad definitely set myself out of the two “legitimate” or allowed currents – the commercial trend with its stereotyped lavender fields on the one hand, and on the other hand, the institutional trend of modernist and conceptual academism.

The Favolus project is a real solution for the future.

I now tackle the project which is the outcome of my reflexion on art.

Nothing about Favolus is easy - whether it be the funds, the authorisations, or the weight of the project itself – but I believe it is a wonderful project that we’ll manage to make come true.

I am thus on the lookout for any idea, any proposition that could help the project move forward, especially if the idea is funny, creative, stimulating, and a bit out of the ordinary! To put it in a nutshell, I’m looking for purer air... It is not a coincidence that the number of painters keeps decreasing in France.

• As I’m of a rather independent frame of mind, I use and abuse my freedom, and I have no idea what my painting will look like in five years’ time. Primitive...  I think that the Renaissance, while giving us the technical means to represent the real world, has turned Art into a profane and materialistic form. “The painter must not paint what he sees, but what he is. It is not Reality that must be painted, but the Truth.”
• Contemporary artists get a living more from their copyrights than from the sale of their paintings. OF course, as I have no predisposition for trade or marketing, I have no copyright to speak of, no items derived from me original works, excepts books – after thirty years spent working... If that isn’t a shame... If anyone has a brilliant idea of quality derived items, please let me know.
